The grapes for this wine are grown on well draining rocky clay soils in the hills at the heart of the Chianti Classico region. The climate is continental, with hot, dry summers and cold winters, allowing for a wide range of diurnal temperatures which contribute to the quality of the wine.

The vineyard area covers 15 hectares, with vines of an average age of 19 years old, grown on rocky clay soils. The grapes are harvested by hand.
The juice is fermented in stainless steel tanks. Maceration lasts for about 15 days at 28°C, with frequent pumping over.
10 months in Slavonian oak barrels , 6 months in French oak barriques and 4 months in bottles
